I cant seem to get a direct link to my ftp to work. For example, I created an ftp called 'public' for everyone to use and I uploaded a music file to that ftp folder. But I cant seem to get a direct link to work. I want people to just click on the link and download the file instead of them having to go into my ftp and log in.

Is there anything I have to do to make this work?

If you only want people to be able to download, not upload, why not use http-based links instead of ftp-based links?

Thats the problem, the http links dont work.

I just talked to the webmaster at my job and he said that the account wasnt set up properly, because when he created an index.html file in the public_html folder, when you go to my website nothing appears - it just says that nothing has been configured at that website

This is the sort of thing that you need to speak to your web hosting provider about for advice.
