In /etc I have a bunch of files named "localdomains.eximreset.*" and "aliases.eximreset.*", where the * is a long, seemingly random number. What are these and can they be deleted? My gut says they can because they are all pretty old but I've learned to ask before deleting the unknown

    Thanks,

    David

I am not sure what exactly those files are and whether it is good idea to delete those. So for the time being you can rename those files and check whether it cause any problems. If yes, rename back to original. If not, remove them completely.

    Go on, have a guess
If they're old you can delete them. They're created when you upgrade exim using:

    /scripts/eximup

It could be that one of those failed in the dim and distant past and left behind those temporary files.
