Use a domain that resolves to the server. Any hostname that resolves to the server should in theory work, though there may be a certificate error if the hostname you use does not match the certificate name. Typically, you would either use the domain name itself, or "ftp." followed immediately by the domain name, such as ftp.example.com.

Since the SSL certificate is installed for the server's hostname, and there can only be one FTP SSL certificate per server, using the server's hostname should work. Either the server's hostname or the domain name for which you are trying to upload should get a connection, as long as they both resolve to the server's IP address.
