Re: LogView - Domain Expired

Sorry guys... I keep forgetting to renew this domain for some reason...

I will get the domain fixed and registered again soon.
It appears the domain has been released and registered by someone else.

Maybe this is over-reacting, but I think it would be advisable for people to uninstall any instances of LogView that were installed from logview.org. The plugin runs as root, and has a built-in update mechanism that can download and run a shell script from the logview.org site. If the new domain owner were maliciously minded, they could put just about anything into the file that the updater would download.

The manual uninstall instructions in post #3 of this thread work.

Once @xisn has a new domain that they control and can use for LogView on a permanent basis, then it can be reinstalled from there.

As I say, maybe I'm over-reacting. That's for each server administrator to decide.

Re: Error updating LogView

@JamesOakley - Thanks for the concern however this could be a concern for the new owner of that domain for sure... silly me forgot to renew it...

Uninstall the old stuff first...

Code:

# /usr/local/cpanel/bin/unregister_appconfig /var/cpanel/apps/lview.conf
# rm -fv /var/cpanel/apps/lview.conf
# rm -rfv /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/logview
# /usr/local/cpanel/bin/update_appconfig_apps
Now lets get the new stuff...

Code:
# wget http://www.log-view.com/logview-install
# chmod +x logview-install

Thnaks a lot xisn for this contribution, I'm sure we all appreciate it!
If you have a chance, please re-pack the logview-current.tar.gz so the lview.cgi does not contain any reference or callback to the old domain.

Again, thanks for this contribution.

This contribution belongs on the AppCat:

That listing needs and owner, and an update.
Ah... Thanks! Just claimed it

I just checked this again and did not see the old domain in there. Am I missing one?

Wow. Lots of mistakes going on here with this one, as always. I don't get it. I used to love this addon.

Code:
Not Found

The requested URL /logview-current.tar.gz was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Just an FYI for others reading this thread that might not know, CSF has a built in real time log viewer and cPanel rotates logs, and, is why I stopped using log-view, long ago.

ConfigServer Security & Firewall

@xisn, please add some sort of support channel, link to your email or forum on your own website please. These forums are not the place for this sort of thing. cPanel does not support this addon in any way. The same as with CSF.

As a courtesy to you, as I really used to love this addon, I'm leaving this thread open a bit longer. But it will be closed at some point, and any related threads posted, added here going forward.

Thanks.

Trying to install this plugin and keep getting a 404 error. Is this plugin dead?

Thanks infopro, it is the actual link to download the file that is broken. Using the wget command gives a 404 error also. I've contacted the developer and he has responded so hopefully he'll fix the broken links. As for CSF, I am not fond of their log viewer feature but happy with everything else of theirs.
