I've been getting VERY nice logwatch emails. (it's always great to see 200+ failed sshd logins from china) but there is a section FULL of CP-Wrap messages. While not really an issue it does add a lot of 'noise'
    Code:
    Cp-Wrap[7614]: CP-Wrapper terminated without error
    Cp-Wrap[18829]: CP-Wrapper v1.2 resuming normal operations
    Cp-Wrap[18829]: Pushing "32208 COUNTDBS" to '/usr/local/cpanel/bin/mysqladmin' for UID: 32208
    Cp-Wrap[18829]: CP-Wrapper terminated without error
    Cp-Wrap[18833]: CP-Wrapper v1.2 resuming normal operations
    Cp-Wrap[18833]: Pushing "32208 LISTDBS" to '/usr/local/cpanel/bin/postgresadmin' for UID: 32208
While not particulary necessary in logwatch AFAIK I modified the $ignore_services line in secure.conf
    Code:
    # Use this to ignore certain services in the secure log.
    # You can ignore as many services as you would like.
    # (we ignore sshd because its entries are processed by the sshd script)
    $ignore_services = sshd Pluto stunnel proftpd CP-Wrap

And the messages are gone. Did I just disable an important message or just reduce the noise?

    Thanks!

Is it indeed ok to do this? Those CP-Wrap messages take up a lot of space, and I really don't need to be seeing them.

    Thanks.

you can ignore them however you wish, it is just a wrapper that lets users get their dblist etc that would require root access.

How to disable CP-Wrapper and xinetd?

I'm seeing those messages now too. How do I disable them? My settings are:

Yet, I keep seeing these kind of messages:

How can I get rid of both the "CP-Wrapper" and the "xinetd" logs, and would suppressing them make me miss out on important info?

    Thanks!

Any ideas for this? Thanks in advance.

    I personally don't know.. I have:

    Code:
    FILE: /etc/log.d/conf/services/secure.conf
$ignore_services = sshd Pluto stunnel proftpd xinetd Cp-Wrap

and it worked for me. Maybe someone else has a suggestion.
