EDIT: OK I don't know why but now its showing up... weird.....................................................

can you please let us know how to remove anything on the server that is cloudlinux imunify360 I don't want it because I don't use them
so no need for them to be on my server..

PLEASE.
thanks
Spiro

so I was about to install ffmpeg and I went to /opt to create a directory ffmpeg and start my process. I just noticed ai-bolit for the first time. so I wanted to see what that is? but I don't have access ?
how can I as root not have access to things on my server???

Code:
[[email protected] opt]# dir
ai-bolit alt app-version-detector cloudlinux cpanel imunify360
I wish you would not install third party things on our server any longer.. give us the option when we do a fresh install to install it or not, like before there was a page that showed us different options that could get installed if we selected YES or we decided we don't want them so we said no.

how do I Delete all this..
do not want ai-bolit alt app-version-detector cloudlinux imunify360

I don't want any of this on my server just cPanel that's it.

looking at last year there was a cve vulnerability in ai-bolit.

so I assume if this happens again and we are not aware we have that already installed we are vulnerable to that CVE and then somehow we get clobbered with a hacker and down we go.

why do you always like to force Cloudlinux and imunifyAV and that stuff on our servers. some use it and need it some don't want it like me..

I don't want it.
so I need to know how to get rid of it for good not after /scripts/upcp will it get installed again please.

I am venting but also rightfully so. my server is my stuff

- If I want it I'll install it or buy it, but if I don't want it - don't force it on my server/

Regards
Spiro

Hey hey! I wouldn't expect this to be present on a default cPanel server. In fact, /opt only has /opt/cpanel on the test machine I just examined, which was a fresh installation of version 102.

Was this server possibly upgraded and downgraded from CloudLinux at one point?

@cPRex
No sir. This was a new install of AlmaLinux 8.5 minimal then cPanel 102.0.10 then transferred back 2 domains from another server AlmaLinux8.5 and cPanel 102.0.10 with never having that stuff installed. So I assumed it got installed from cPanel installation seeing we have imunifyAV automatically getting installed on fresh installs. ?
maybe an earlier version 102.0.9 vs .10 vs .11 ??

I did some testing on my end and confirmed that those directories are created when ImunifyAV is installed. Since Imunify is created by the CloudLinux team, it includes things with the CloudLinux name.

If you remove ImunifyAV using the details here:

it will delete the contents of those directories.

@cPRex

it does not delete the Directories

here it is below: Notice I did the uninstall process a couple times to see and it does not remove those directories

Code:
[[email protected] ~]# cd /opt
[[email protected] opt]# dir
ai-bolit alt app-version-detector cloudlinux cpanel imunify360
[[email protected] opt]# bash imav-deploy.sh --uninstall

[[email protected] opt]# cd /opt
[[email protected] opt]# dir
ai-bolit alt app-version-detector cloudlinux cpanel imav-deploy.sh imunify360
[[email protected] opt]#
As you can see there still there including
imunify360
cloudlinux
ai-bolit
alt
app-version-detector
I did notice the directories are empty except for alt
Code:
[[email protected] opt]# cd alt
[[email protected] alt]# dir
alt-php-config curlssl11 freetds11 libicu libxml2 openssl11 php-internal python38 t1lib
curl cyrus-sasl krb5 libssh211 libzip php74-imunify python27 sqlite
so at least one files I know read php74-imunify
alt-php-config I believe belongs to cloudlinux as well not sure about the rest.

so this is what i am talking about, some third party directories and files I don't want to have nor do I want to have to go through the time and trouble to get rid if them. they should be an option if we want to install them we can if we don't we don't.

I know why they put them there (cPanel company) new CEO smart guy - in the left pocket is cPanel lic fee's, in the right pocket is Cloudlinux advertisement fees plus affiliate fees if someone purchases,. but no sir this is my server not CEO's or cPanel's
we purchases a lic to use cPanel not cloudlinux, unless you are going to give us these features free. if not do not install this on our systems.

I wish the new CEO was smart enough to know better, these decisions I know are made from the horses mouth. not you or Dustin or anyone of the managers. poop travels from the horse down.

i know - I was a General manager for 28 years in the automotive industry for a few Chevrolet dealerships.
the horse was the owner. and I was the bad guy. so I was just doing as the horse told me since he was paying me top dollar.
sometimes I fought with him and her to make them realize they were wrong, and we made changes. other times I kept my mouth shut so I can feed my family.

in those 28 years I never once forced anything down to anyone's personal belongings, ( in this case my server)

so please find a way to talk to them and tell them this is not part of an agreement to force third party folders and files on our servers without our consent.,

and in the meantime can you find me a work around to remove these other than just deleting the folders and files please. I don't want to mess up my server trying and then having to waist my time to create a new server and start all over again.

Kind Regards,
Spiro

Yes, the directories stay, but get emptied.

I did ask them about this and they said it was standard procedure for package handling. For example, if you uninstall the MySQL packages on the server, which are taken directly from the mysql repositories and not from cPanel or CloudLinux, the same behavior happens - software is removed, but directories are left in place. Could it be handled differently? Probably, but it sounds like there would need to be customizations made to that package different from all other packages just for that work.

You can mark this as solved
Thanks for your time
