Mac ftp connection fails with username greater than 12 chars

    Weird issue I'd not run into before...

    If I created an ftp user to upload to a subdomain, the ftp connection would hang if the username was greater than 12 chars. For instance, ashleighburns@usersmaindomain.com would just hang after entering the username, never asking for a password, while ashburns@usersmaindomain.com would move right on through. This was true whether connecting via iweb or from command line.

    On a Windows box, the longer version worked just fine... I'm guessing this is some weird apple thing, but thought I'd make note here in case someone else had seen it before a do much hunting...

    Mac OS X has multiple clients for FTP, including CyberDuck, Filezilla and even terminal. What specific FTP client are you using?
