    Hello,

I am wondering if their is a way to resolve this issue. When someone types in mail.adomainonmyserver.com it takes them not to a 404 page, or even the actual domain, such as adomainonmyserver.com - but it takes them to the page that is on the default ip for the server. 1.1.1.2 for example. Is their anyway to prevent this from happening?

    Thank you.

    Go on, have a guess
Well, that's perfectly normal since that DNS entry isn't configured in your web server, so it will always resolve to the first VirtualHost defined in the httpd.conf for that IP address. Do you specifically want mail.domain.com to go to the domains website, or do you want *.domain.com to go to domain.com? If the former, add the following to domain.com's VirtualHost container in httpd.conf:

    ServerAlias mail.domain.com

If you want a wildcard entry for the domain use:

    ServerAlias *.domain.com

However, this is a rather odd thing to do, since mail.domain.com is intended for use by the user to access their email services on the server, not for browsing their website. Maybe user education is more in order?
