    Ok, I cannot get email to work. I try to send an email to an account for any domain on the server and I get a bounceback from qmail. It is my understanding this may have been installed prior to me putting on cpanel. Yet, I have tried to reinstall exim, etc, and it won't "take over".

    When I restart exim, it tells me that it cant return a status report.

    Any ideas please?

    Okay, I have gotten rid of qmail. I still have problems with exim though, when i do an Update System Software, it seems to install exim, but apparently it doesn't.

    When I look at System Status I see
    "exim (packageeximisnotinstalled)"

    How else can I get exim installed and going properly?

    I have tried to atleast shutdown the qmail, but it seems to start up again after every reboot.

    And Im still stuck with the question as to how to reinstall exim properly.

    Someone out there must know how to correct this issue, no?

    Why don't you upgrade cpanel? That might install it for you.

    Try to start exim manually:

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/exim start

    see what error message you get.

    I had this happen once before..... and I am not going to swear it will work for you but it did once for me.
    /scripts/newexim will install exim 3.36.101 which is a later version. Then run the cpanel upgrade again in your WHM and it will install the newer exim 3.36.121. Restart exim and cross your fingers. It did work for me once.

    Well, wish it worked. I tried the /etc/rc.d/init.d/exim start

    root@main [~]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/exim start
    bash: /etc/rc.d/init.d/exim: No such file or directory

    And then:

    root@main [~]# /scripts/newexim
    Resetting Exim to cPanel Defaults and Installing the Latest Version
    `/etc/localdomains' -> `/etc/localdomains.eximreset'
    error: package exim is not installed
    Retrieving http://ftp.cpanel.net/exim-cpanel6.2.0/exim-3.36-101_cpanel_stmpcontrol_antivirus.i386.rpm
    error: failed dependencies:
    exim conflicts with qmail-1.03-102memphis
    exim conflicts with qmail-run-4-4
    `/etc/localdomains.eximreset' -> `/etc/localdomains'
    Waiting for exim to restart..............finished.

    exim did not return a status report
    exim has failed, please contact the sysadmin.

    Then upgraded Cpanel 6.4 R2, didn't install the exim it seems, i went to restart it and got:

    (put me to exim status exim did not return a status report
    exim has failed, please contact the sysadmin.
