    When migrating accounts from one machine to another, there's a period of several hours while DNS changes are propagating, in which existing MX records will still deposit mail for user@domain.com on the "old" server rather than the new. Users will thus never see this mail unless instructed to check webmail on the old server's IP/webmail.

    So is there a way to set up mail forwarders similar to this?:

    user@domain.com --> user@domain.com@12.57.225.63

    And if that's possible, does anyone have a script I could use to do this for everything in /etc/valiases?

    Thanks,
    Scot

    if you have removed the account on the old server then you could add the domain to /etc/secondarymx. This should allow the old server to still except mail for the domain and will then lookup the mx records to see what server it should be sent on to.

    This might still work if the account was still on the old server as well if the domain was moved from /etc/localdomains to /etc/remotedomains.
