We are having a problem with emails going to certain accounts and sticking in the mail queue. When I tried to repair mailbox permissions in the whm manager, I receive the message:

“Incorrect mode on mailbox /home/domainname/mail/domainname.com/account/inbox.lock (0644).. fixing”

However, this doesn’t seem to fix the problem. Why is this happening? Is there a way to manually change the mode?

    Thank you for your help.

What error message are you receiving? A lock file (such as this) is usually placed on an account when the POP3 server is reading from the file. This prevents new mail from being written to the inbox file. Sometimes these lock files become stale as a result of an improper POP3 close or other means. If you are having trouble receiving mail at this e-mail address and you are sure nobody is checking that mail account for mail, then you can safely delete the inbox.lock file and new mail should start to arrive at the inbox file.
