    Hi,

I've just moved my sites to a new cpanel server, and finally have most things working, except I just noticed that none of my email accounts are able to receive mail.

As the server has to run its outgoing mail through a local gateway, i have a smarthost setup to relay it there, and outgoing mail from the server works fine.

Sending mail from any number of accounts to accounts on that server, however, never arrive, and I don't get any bounce message or anything.

APF is setup using the basic ports listed in the securing your cpanel server faq.

    Any ideas?

    Webmail not working...

    HI,

I just moved to a new server as well and am having the same
email problem. Actually, it's not just a problem recieving mail,
it doesn't seem to be sending mail either.

The problem is specific to webmail as well. When recieving & sending
from an email client such as outlook, it works fine. But when
using webmail, you can't send or recieve. It doesn't give an
error and the messages don't bounce. But they never show up
    in a mailbox either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any problems with email need to be first investigated by tailing the exim mainlog:

    tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog

Then send in a test email and watch for errors/messages.

I dont' believe my problem is the same as MattFulger's issue, as I can send mail fine from webmail, but incoming messages - whether retrieved via Outlook or webmail never seem to reach the mailbox.

I sent a couple test messages, but I don't see anything coming up in mainlog regarding that email:

    tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog

If there's nothing in the logs then it would suggest that the email isn't reaching exim or the server at all.

What would be the best way to track down where its being stopped? I noticed that i can't connect to port 25 on the server from any external addresses, but connecting locally works. The server's on the university network, and although they said they weren't blocking any ports a year ago, is there any way i could check whether the connection is being blocked on their firewall, or the firewall on the box?

I checked the APF log, but didn't see anything showing it was blocked. I'd like to be certain that the university is blocking something before I start any discussions with them.

    Thanks,

    Webmail not working...

    Chirpy,

Thanks for your help in resolving this issue. However, I was
able to get it handled by submitting a ticket through the cPanel
    Support System.

Kyle Pinkley from cPanel Support simply modified the E-Mail
configuration and had it working within minutes of having
access to my server. Thanks Kyle!

    Kaos,

Perhaps you can submit a ticket through the cPanel Support
System and have your problem resolved just as quickly as mine. :)
You can find a link to the support system within WHM under
    Support >>> Support Center >>> Contact cPanel.net
The support was very fast and the problem was solved within
minutes of giving them root access!

Awesome Support cPanel! Thanks a million!

    Peace & Prosperity,
    Matt Fulger

Did they indicate anything about the problem and how did they resolved it.

    This was the problem:

The zone files for this nameserver did not exist in the chrooted environment which your nameserver was setup to use. I copied all the db files from /var/named into /var/named/chroot/var/named and then restarted bind. The result was that I am now able to resolve that domain using that nameserver:
    Hope that helps!
