I am a reseller migrating some of my clients, I am faced with a problem that mailboxes do not recieve quota warning, also the Cpanel main email does not receive notifications for over quota.
My clients are business firms, so how can I help them, when they see in their CP a notification option set and they receive no warning.
Inmotion support suggested to set a cron job, and directed me to post written 2006. Can anyone suggest a sample cron job format to set for over quota notifications on resseller account?

    Hello,

I recommend checking with your hosting provider to see if the following option is enabled under the "Notifications" tab in "WHM >> Tweak Settings" on the server hosting your accounts:

    "Enable mailbox usage warnings"

When this option is enabled, the system sends warnings to cPanel users whose mailboxes are almost full.

    Thank you.

Unfortunatly Inmotion have disabled several important options, although they appear in Cpanel for reseller, and also for client CP.
    1) Eximstats is disabled, so there is no option to track email delivery or delivery reports.
    2) After contacting support for enabling Over Quota notification, they were unable to assist with replies below:

"Unfortunately, I reached out to my higher tier and was unable to find a setting to what you suggested."
"I've reviewed the server settings with the Systems department, and have confirmed there is no setting in place which facilitates the generation of such emails when a quota is reached. Unfortunately, due to the system constraints revolving around shared/reseller hosting, these are not notifications which can be enabled within the system."

So can you advise a way to set a cron job to at least notify the CP main email.

    Hello,

Here are a couple of threads on StackOverflow you may find helpful when attempting to setup a custom script that tracks disk space usage:

How to export daily disk space usage?
    Bash monitor disk usage

However, you'd need to modify those scripts to use the "du" utility and to use the directory where email accounts are stored. The following documents provide some information on the "du" utility and the paths where email data is stored:

How to Manage your Hard Drive Space - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation
How to Manually Migrate Accounts to cPanel from Unsupported Control Panels - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation

Keep in mind we do not provide support for custom scripts. You may want to consult with a qualified system administrator for help with this:

    Thank you.

I'm the "higher tier" they were referring to at InMotion. We're currently looking into this. As it sits, we do have Eximstats disabled and this is because on busier servers, it was causing problems with MySQL. We plan to enable this after our cPanel 64 upgrades are done (yes, they take a while to schedule and complete across all our servers) since Eximstats was moved to using sqlite. This will probably happen in October.

As far as notifications go, the setting to notify on account and email quotas is actually enabled, but I suspect the notifications only go out when certain events are triggered, such as cPanel updates or quotacheck. I'm specifically looking over this to see why these notifications are not being sent out as expected.

Thank you for a straight forward reply, I can wait till October for Exims. As for Notifications, I can manage with a collective over quota notification to Cpanel primary email 12 or 24 hours. If this is not possible at the moment, a collective cron job for all CPanels sent to my main email will do. We will do the individual notifications at our office and email to our business clients. When I advised clients of migration, they are expecting equal or higher performance, and I appreciate your assistance full filling that.

We've adjusted the notification system and expect it to be enabled on all servers by the end of September. Eximstats doesn't impact this change.

We're only enabling the script that handles the quota checks and notifications. Eximstats is not related to any of these functions, it basically just tracks and reports on email usage and enforces hourly sending limits. We are looking to enable this in October.
