    Hello @zefie,

The cPanel username does not exist as a separate email account by default. You must create it as a new email account if you want to use it as more than just a global account login for Webmail.

    Thank you.

This is a bit confusing, because when choosing to check webmail using that account, it shows the from address as "zefie@zefie.net" rather than "zefie@server.hostname", even though that account does not exist.

Edit: As you say though, I created a specific "zefie@zefie.net" account and updated things to use it's login and now everything works as intended.

    Hello @zefie,

The ability for the system email address (e.g. cpanel-username@domain.tld) to receive email without a corresponding virtual email account depends on how the Default Address option is configured in cPanel. If it's set to catch all email, then the system email address can accept incoming messages without the virtual email account, however if it's set to discard email at SMTP time, then you must create the virtual email account to ensure incoming email is accepted. You can read more about the default email account at:

Email Accounts - Version 78 Documentation - cPanel Documentation

    Thank you.

Thank you, this used to work all the time, so I probably broke it trying to fix the issue in my other thread I just posted, about scammers and mailer daemon bounce. I did change some settings about a week prior to realizing the address was not working. All is well now, at least with this thread! Thanks!
