Mailing List address returns "User Unknown"

I set up a mailing list for my new website through cPanel, but when I send something to that address, it returns with a "user unknown" error for the mailing list address. I tried adding the address as a separate E-mail account, but was told that I could not as the address conflicted with the mailing list address (so cPanel knows that the mailing list exists).

Is there some setting that I am missing? Is the problem on the website host's end? Unfortunately, I have no shell access, so I can't dig too deeply into this.

Never mind - it was a DNS problem (the account name was transferred from someone else, and it was still using the old mail server address in its MX entry.)
