There is a problem with the weekly logrotation. I'v had to correct this problem on 4 boxes.

After weekly logrotation runs, the maillog file, /var/log/maillog remains at zero bytes and does not record anything until you restart syslog. In order to correct that, i have to run /etc/init.d/syslog restart every week to get it to start writing entries.

I have the same problem, but mine stops evey day. It was interfering with sending e-mail as (I believe) antirelayd checks maillog to see whether or not it should allow someone to send mail. I've added a cron job that runs /scripts/restartsrv_syslogd every day but I'd like to get rid of it if anyone has a fix.

I dont understand the solution that Chripy refers too.

I think there are some spelling mistakes that affect how it sounds.

Also, this issue also happens on RHEL3.

All you are doing is changing when the temp files are.

    Code:
    export TMPDIR=
can be any valid directory that you want.
