I am most interested in this as well. Would appreciate any news on this.

I can't locate any specifics on the packages installed with ANY build. That might be a useful resource...

Does the current or new Mailman 2.1 send out headers/footers on emails with html? I have not been able to get a footer to work with html - only plain text email.

Several of the updated features look very useful:
* Invitations
* Users can now change some of their delivery options globally, for all lists at a site, including their password, delivery status, real name, etc.
* Much better MIME and I18n support in the archiver
* A separate &list moderator& role has been added
* Urgent: header support (bypasses digests to reach all users immediately).

I'm nost interested in the real names support - on moderated lists it is a b&tch to keep subscription lists up to date because all you have is their email address. In a perfect world the users would be smart enough to update their own subscriptions but most are probably just too lazy to do so.

Do the developers ever read this forum? Just wondering. If they are testing it or concerned about integration bugs or something, that's all well and good, but obviously they haven't learned the number one rule for happy customers - acknowledge they exist even if you're not ready to do anything about their issue :)

I am a newbie, so please forgive the probably stupid question, but...

How would I go about installing this program myself to be used inside cPanel? Can I just replace the current files with the new mailman files? Or will that cause problems?

I really need this update, so if there are no plans to do it any time soon, I'd really like to go ahead and do it myself...

I would also like to see the new version of Mailman included in Cpanel.
Isn't there a command like chattr or something that can prevent it from being updated? I know of one host that has cpanel AND the new version of mailman.

Anyway, I tried simply replacing the files, but it didn't work. There must be some configuring that needs to be done. Does anybody know how to set up mailman to work with cpanel?

Interested here, as well. I have several list owners who really need better e-mail administration tools, which 2.1 provides. An update would sure be welcome, as the browser based administration is tedious for some chores that could easily be combined into a single email message.

How do you set a moderated list with the new VER?

I guess you get what you pray for some times.

Now that we got the NEW mail man can some one tell me how to make a list moderated?

I need to have s out going list only BUT I can not see how to do it on the new Ver. of mail main.

ONE OTHER BUG with the new ver is "real_name" (in General Options). You must NOW have it set the same as the list name.

When you creat s new list, say: [email protected]

The new ver sets the real name to "test".
When you try to save this page you will see this error:

Error: real_name attribute not changed! It must differ from the list's name by case only.

The only way to get rid of this is to set the "real_name" to the same thing as the list name i.e. "test_domain.com".

The system you not put the short name if it does not like it!
