It seems after WHM/CPanel upgraded to the latest version on the release tree, that Mailman is no longer working. When I try to restart Mailman via mailmanctl, I get the following message:

/usr/lib/python2.2/regsub.py:15: DeprecationWarning: the regsub module is deprec

The version that I have is WHM 8.4.0 cPanel 8.4.0-R72.

This affected both servers that I have using WHM/CPanel after the upgrade.

    Appreciate any help here. Thanks!

It seems that mailman was upgraded but Mailman/Defaults.py was not.. or that Defaults.py is not complete for some reason.

I've had this affect about 15 servers so far ;(

    Hi ewindisch:

Did this happen after the latest upgrade from the release tree?

I upgraded the server from the edge build and it still did not fix the issue.

    Bdraco:

Do you have a fix for this issue?

    Thanks,
    brianc

With some digging around and doing some comparisons with tarballs, it looks like Mailman 2.0 and 2.1 have been slapped together like a tuna and jam sandwich (not very tasty, don't try it at home).

upcp to 8.4.0-RELEASE_83 or higher. This should fix it, worked for me.

    still having problems here

Even after the latest release I still have issues on many of our servers.

/scripts/reinstallmailman returns this after it starts processing users:

    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/local/cpanel/bin/reset_mailman_hostname", line 44, in ?
    raise SystemExit(main(sys.argv))
File "/usr/local/cpanel/bin/reset_mailman_hostname", line 31, in main
    file=open('/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/lists/' + list + '/config.pck','r')
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/lists/mailman/config.pck'

Ans even after I forced a mailman-install with the --with-python switch so it could find python, the mail still doesn't get sent out to the users who post to the lists.

Mailman is still broken for me. It was working fine until yesterday's update. I've tried updating to stable, release, back to stable, running /scripts/reinstallmailman, all with no success.

My Cpanel provider is "looking into it" but that's all I know from them.

I'm wondering now if I'm the only one still having problems or if others are still broken too.

This happened on a box after running /scripts/exim4

/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/bin/update: No such file or directory

/scripts/fixmailman: /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/bin/mailmanctl: No such file or directory

The mailman binaries are missing completely, mailman won't re install via /scripts/reinstallmailman upcp did not fix it. any one found a way to fix this?

My Cpanel provider looked it over but didn't see the problem. They opened a new support ticket and a Cpanel tech had it fixed within a couple hours.

There is a bug in the mailman-install script.

    Solution :
Please backup the script before modify anything :)

    locate the : /usr/local/cpanel/bin/mailman-install
    on the line 125
    replace " \$CONFIGURE" with " \ [newline] $CONFIGURE"

    run /scripts/reinstallmailman
    restart the cpanel

hope that fix the problem if not try emailing support[at]linuxnetworkcare.com
