    Hello,

Was mailman running at the time you attempted a restart?

    # ps faux | grep mailman

It is better to check if the mailman service is properly running by doing ps aux on python:

    Code:
    ps aux | grep python
As for why you might receive the error, do you actually have Mailman enabled on the machine?

WHM > Tweak Settings > Enable Mailman mailing lists > On
WHM > Service Manager > Mailman > enabled

If Mailman isn't set to be on in Tweak Settings or isn't enabled in Service Manager, it won't have a pid file when cPanel is restarted and won't shut down or start during the cPanel restart.

What are the results when you do the cPanel restart and then ps aux for python instead of mailman? Again, the command to see if mailman is running after the cPanel restart is the following:

    Code:
    ps aux | grep python

When you restart Mailman using "/scripts/restartsrv_mailman", what do you see when you grep for python at that point?

When you restart cPanel and have mailman go down, can you tail the cPanel error log to see if anything shows up there?

    Code:
    tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log
Next, can you also check the mailman error log:

    Code:
    tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/logs/error

Could you open up a ticket at this point? I'm not even certain how to correct what might be happening since a simple restart does function. You could use either WHM > Support Center > Contact cPanel or using the link in my signature. Thanks!
