mails deleted

    While downloading suddenyl my clients mails were deleted without any pre warning !!!

    HOw could this happen.. just one clietn and over 200 mails vanished while downloading thru POP outlook client ?

    any ideas... and if these can be traced back ?

    The emails were downloaded to the persons computer.

    I think theres an option in Outlook that lets you keep them on the server..

    there were not downloaded. Ther were around 400 mails and outlook after downlading around 100 showed zero mails on the servers marking downloa dcomplete.

    some time back webmail showed aver 400 mails !!

    This is first of its kind instance in my life ! any one has any idea on the same,

    Sounds like they had outlook set to leave emails on server for a while, then changed that to remove them from the server. That would mean after downloading the 200 or so new ones, they would all be deleted since the deleting isn't done until all new ones are downloaded.

    If that's not the case, any chance someone else was recently given access to the account and maybe downloaded the emails with his mail client set to remove from server?
