Why is MailScanner looking in the wrong directory and how can i change this?

I keep getting the following in my maillog:

Nov 28 04:06:49 sfo MailScanner[23773]: Cannot cd to dir /var/spool/exim_incoming/input/1CHKLy-00083y-RX-D to read messages, No such file or directory
Nov 28 04:06:49 sfo MailScanner[23773]: Cannot cd to dir /var/spool/exim_incoming/input/1CJVDH-0002B2-A6-D to read messages, No such file or directory

    how can I change this?

    what is the difference between:

    /var/spool/exim/input/
    and
    /var/spool/exim_incoming/input/

do i just need to delete the mails stuck outside of the split folders? or do i actually need to change the incoming and outgoing mail queue folders int he mailscanner.conf?

    Many Thanks

    Vincent -

    Go on, have a guess
You can either delete those files, or move them into any of the single character subdirectories that should be there and MailScanner will deliver them. When you only have the 62 subdirectories and no other files in exim_incoming you should then restart MailScanner to clear the errors.
