    Hi

I installed the file from Layer1 and when I did check_mailscanner, I get the below error:

Cannot open config file /usr/mailscanner/etc/MailScanner.conf, Permission denied at /usr/mailscanner/lib/MailScanner/Config.pm line 295.

Any idea on how to fix it?

    Thanks.

    Dear silversurfer,

Make sure your config file have permissions set to 700.If not set it to 700 and run check_mailscanner,it helps you to resolve this problem.

    Hi

I had even chmod it 777 and it still didn't work. I tried 700 and as expected, it still had the same error.

I even chown it to a low level user to try and the same error pop up.

    Any ideas?

    That's the error,
that config file should exist, and should be 644, not anything else (except maybe 640)
as what user are you running check_mailscanner?

I ran it as root, both to install and to run check_mailscanner. I am not sure about the permissions as I had to uninstall it for my mails to start working again.

Sounds like the install didn't complete then, so you'd be missing files/perl libraries and/or config files.
