Main servername not reachable, all other hosted sites reachable.

Hello, recently I moved my box and am having some issues.

I installed cpanel, everything was great then I noticed my main website was not reachable aka the non cpanel/whm login which would be "domain.com" for example.

However at that time the "alpha.domain.com" was reachable and useable.

Now, after having some issues with the DNS which is all resolved, I can't get to my WHM/Cpanel, or even the main website that runs the WHM/Cpanel.

I believe I completely messed up my hosts file, and rebuilding it hasn't worked.

I am running WHM/Cpanel on the root IP of the box, and I am trying to run the main website on a different IP that is on the same box because I have SSL'd my WHM & Cpanel login, and I have another SSL for my main site.

Now, all that being said every single other site hosted on the box is reachable, and has no issues.

httpd.conf issue? /etc/hosts issue? What am I over-looking?!

Thanks for any responses.

(Sorry for the double post)

Forgot to note:

When I edit my hosts file on my local machine aka "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"

And put in...

0.0.0.0 alpha.domain.com
0.0.0.0 alpha.domain.com:2083
0.0.0.0 alpha.domain.com:2087

It goes straight to my WHM/cpanel, and I can use it then.

Hello :)

First, check to make sure you have no firewall rules blocking access to your server. Also, try accessing cPanel/WHM directly over the IP address to see if that makes a difference.

Thank you.

Whenever I use the IP it goes to apache's default page.

Whenever I use the IP:2087 it doesn't goto the WHM/Cpanel it goes to domain.com:2087, not alpha.domain.com:2087 (which is my WHM/Cpanel).

Okay I finally got it fixed... now my main domain on it's own IP is redirecting to the default page for apache.

The DocumentRoot /home/%user%/public_html/ is correct.

Any ideas?

It's normal for a shared IP address to load the default cPanel page. An IP address will only load website content if it's a dedicated IP address for an account. You can modify the settings under the "Redirection" tab in "WHM >> Tweak Settings" to change the redirection behavior when accessing cPanel/WHM/Webmail.

Thank you.
