    Hey there, i need some major help.

    I have overwritten my htaccess file and i need the default one. It has stopped my website from working. It just keeps trying to download the index page.

    Please help asap!

    major mistake :(

    ok change that....i have put an empty htaccess file in place and it opens on firefox & explorer, but doesnt want to work on chrome, but none of the code has changed :/

    There isn't any default .htaccess file, since the default .htaccess file is empty. If you had contents in your .htaccess file and are using a well-known product like WordPress or Joomla, you could try downloading that software and locating the typical .htaccess file that is used with it. Otherwise, you could try to locate a backup you might have made and use the .htaccess file you have with it.

    If you do not have a backup, you might want to inquire with your hosting provider about a possible backup in case they have one for your account.
