Many apache process like /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -k start -DSSL

I don´t know what this means:

I have many processes like

4853 (Trace) (Kill) nobody 0 0.0 0.1 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -k start -DSSL

The server slows down and then it hangs. Any ideas?

It's normal to see the "nobody" username in the process list because that's the username that Apache runs under. What's the server load when you notice it hangs? There is a guide here you may find helpful:
