many sites offline please help

Hi

I have 3 servers
one acts as master with 2 slaves.

a large number of sites do not resolve that are hosted on one of the slaves.

when i check etc/named.conf there are no entreis for these domains on either the master or the slave server

running /scripts/rebuildnamedconf does not insert the entry even on the slave server where the sites are hosted

also there are no records of the domains in var/named on the master server so running sync with master server does not fix

any advice welcome
