I just copied a hundred or so accounts from one server to another. The new server is a new redhat box that didn't have any accounts on it.

When people try and ftp into the server I am getting this error.

BUT, people are still logging into the server but it is taking a long time for authentication.

    Also when I try:
    /etc/init.d/proftpd restart
    I get a: Hangup

Any ideas what is going on? Thanks for your help!

I believe I've read (somewhere on this forum) that if you toggle between proftp and pure ftp a time or two, things seem to start working.
