I am sysadmin ( As are most of u people :p ) I want to pose a question to the cPanel/WHM devlopers. This tool is generally used in servers with a lot of Virtual Hosts. Why do you use then normal Virtual Hosting ? Mass virtual hosting will cut down on the system start time and memory foorprint. Or is there a way that I donot know ? Thanks

    Go on, have a guess
I can think of many reasons, especially:

    1. "The main disadvantage is that you cannot have a different log file for each virtual host"

    2. AIUI, you cannot have domain specific configurations, which many providers use (e.g. CGI access, Frontpage access, etc)

    3. The speed advatages are dubious compared to everything else running on the server (Exim, MySQL, MailMan, CGI scripts, PHP scripts, etc) and modern hardware.

    4. It's a very inflexible solution for a hosting provider.

But you can pipe the output for log including stats to diff users.

    The memory footprint is smaller

    Cgi-Bin can be used

Why do you say its inflexible ?
