I have been looking for this, but cannot find the answer: what happens when the max emails per hour limit is reached?

Are outgoing emails discarded, or are they added to the queue?

If the max emails per hour limit is reached then the sender receives the bounce back email message containing that max emails per hour limit has been crossed.

I think you missed Vliegtuig's original question, and I am also interested in the answer.

Are the emails discarded, or will they be sent later?

From what I've seen, the emails bounce back to the sender and are NOT redelivered.
