hello,

how can I install memcached on cPanel with LiteSpeed and cloudlinuxOS cantos 7

I use 2 sites: on this server

1. Xenforo v2.2 latest and I just setup LiteSpeed and they have a plugin for Xenforo forum that I got working. so not sure if memcached will help with this site as well?

2. I also use a script from phpfox.com and they have in there admin area a selection to use file cache, Memcached, or Redis

- I am not sure which one I should use ( memcached or Redis ) with LiteSpeed running as my web server.

if anyone has any suggestions or real life experience utilizing one or the other which one should I use with LiteSpeed ?

and if so why and how to install it.

Thanks so much
Spiro

Hey there! memcached is available through the EasyApache 4 tools, so that is easy to set up within the WHM interface.

We have a forums thread here that talks about setting up Redis on the system, so you may want to read that over as well: Recommended way to install redis on WHM (CentOS 7)

Personally, I'd try memcached since it's easier and fully supported, and see if that gets you what you're looking for :D

@cPRex thanks. Also not sure if I mentioned I have cloudlinux installed. So the ea4 will still work even though I’m no using Apache and using litespeed web server ?

just making sure.
I think cloudlinux also has in LVE option to installdifferent redid versions if not correct.

thanks
Is there anything special I need to do with litespeed to install memcached from ea4 ?

The installation process would be the same as it still reads all the modules installed on the system.

If you are using CloudLinux they have an official guide for the Redis installation here:

but it's still performed through the EPEL repository and not part of the CloudLinux tools.
Ok great. Thanks for the updates.
Hope your having a great day @cPRex :)

kind regards,
Spiro
