    Hello,

I wonder how cpanel calculates memory and where exactly is it getting this information from :)

I see it reporting on one of the boxes "Memory Used 25.9 %" although when i do "$free -m" i get this..

____ total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 4945 4817 128 0 417 3142
    -/+ buffers/cache: 1256 3689
    Swap: 8001 0 8001

The only thing i rely on getting information about memory usage/status is from /proc/meminfo so i think this is totally odd.

    ,Thanks.

Cached memory can be considered free, as it's where recent files and such have been cached to reduce disk seeks. Whenever an application needs the memory the cache is using, it's immediately allocated to the application, therefore you can consider it to be free.
