Memory overusage - 48 instances of user nobody/httpd

Is this normal? I noted that nearly all memory is used (more than 90%), at the same time the server and cpu load isn't so high.

What are all those instances of user nobody doing there? - They use more than half of the memory used. Do I need to reboot the server to get rid of this overusage? - There are about 500 accounts on the server.

    - I since learned that it is the httpd taking up so much memory (user: nobody). Does anyone know the internals of that architecture and why this is suddenly happening. The increase in memory usage to that level has happened suddenly. My NOC don't know the answer to the problem.
