I have a few scripts that require a certain amount of memory to be allocated to PHP and for some reason in PHP 5.x it just returns a blank value for some reason. This creates and issue for some scripts which require XX amount of memory be available to install.

Has anyone else had the same issue and possibly found a fix or alternative?

You need to compile php with memory limit enabled. In easy apache, its the option "Enable Memory Limit (experimental) "
