    Any idea what this is referring to:

    Feb 18 09:06:35 vps named[19529]: client 62.109.4.89#658: view external: error sending response: host unreachable
    Feb 18 09:10:25 vps named[19529]: client 62.109.4.89#290: view external: error sending response: host unreachable
    Feb 18 09:11:27 vps named[19529]: client 62.109.4.89#442: view external: error sending response: host unreachable
    Feb 18 09:13:29 vps named[19529]: client 62.109.4.89#696: view external: error sending response: host unreachable
    Feb 18 09:13:33 vps named[19529]: client 62.109.4.89#463: view external: error sending response: host unreachable

    Is this my VPS trying to do a DNS lookup and failing? The mail queue is empty, so I'm not sure why it would be doing this

    Hi;

    The host unreachable message alerts the sending host that the destination host requested cannot be found. This could happen because this host has been turned off or does not exist. You can think of this message as the gateway saying to the sending host, "I found the street you were looking for, but the house you are trying to find is not there."

    Make sure your server isn't having any network problems. Look for the IPs that named cant reach and try to traceroute to them. Maybe theres a commonality amongst the IPs it can't reach. I have traceroute the IP 62.109.4.89 and currently it is NOT resolving properly.

    Also check your resolv.conf file and check either the resolvers mentioned there are correct.

    non-routable IP address...

    I googled the address and found a few sites that have reports of the IP address being used to place attacks against DNS servers.

    Solved... :)
