Hey guys,

I'm trying to move a client who purchased a new server.

He owns a cPanel license and would like to install it on the new server, but he also wants to migrate his domains to the new server as well.

It is my understanding that a cPanel license will only work on one server at a time.

So how would I:

1) Install cPanel on his new server??

2) Use it to migrate all his domains over to the new server from the old one while the cPanel license is still on the old server??

He wants to install cPanel on the new server (it has nothing on it now), but he's already running cPanel on his other server and has his license on that one.

So how do I do this??

Ideally, I'd like to install cPanel on the new server, and then migrate his sites to it, and then kill the old server after pulling his license off it, and putting it on the new server. . .

I would suggest contacting Customer Service at [email protected] to ask about the possibility of a short term trial license to migrate accounts to the new machine. Once you have a license, you would simply need to install cPanel on the new machine, then use WHM > Transfers > Copy multiple accounts/packages from another server area.

Tristan,

Cool -- much appreciated!

I know how to copy the accounts over once WHM is setup, but I just was wondering about the licensing, since from my understanding, a single license cannot run on two machines simultaneously.

But that answers my question. Thanks for that!

Tristan, I just want to point out for anyone who comes across this thread:

cPanel support is the best!

Rather than having me open multiple tickets, the respective departments were
cc'ed on the original ticket I submitted as per your recommendation, and they
got back to me within hours of the original request with a temporary license to
move the sites to the new server, as well as the procedure to transfer the license
after the server move is completed -- now *THAT* is what I call "support". =0)

Thanks again!
