Migrate from shared IP to dedicated IP

Hello everyone!

I'm going to migrate an account from shared IP to a dedicated IP address. I wonder if it is possible to let an account be available on two IP addresses at once, for a while, until the DNS-changes has replicated out in the world.

I can see that I can change the IP-address for an account, but if I do that the webpage will be unavailable for users until the DNS has updated... If I'm getting this right

There's no way in WHM to allow an account to have two IP addresses at the same time. While you could put in two A records for that account in the DNS zone and two entries into the VirtualHost entry for that account, those would have to be manual alternations and I couldn't say if this would have the desired result.

I am not using cPanel as DNS-servers, we have a separated DNS-system.

Could you tell me how to alter the VirtualHost-entry? I guess I just need this to work for 7-10 days, and then remove the entry.

I just copied the previous virtualhost for the site and made a duplicate with a different address. It works fine, and I guess it will work until I do some other change to any sites.
