Hi,

We have an existing WHM/Cpanel configured with Remote MYSQL Server. However this server has been compromised with Ebury trojan and we have to migrate the accounts to a new server. After making sure that the accounts were cleaned up, we have migrated them to the new server. However when testing the site were having errors like "cant connect to mysql server". I assume this is because the server was with Remote Mysql Server. How can we go about making sure the site works before doing the final switch? I dont think we can set up the new server to connect with Remote MYSQL Server while the current live server is still connected with it.

Hello,

Is the new server using the Remote MySQL server as well, or did you move the databases from the Remote MySQL server to the new WHM/cPanel server?
We are hoping that we could use the same Remote Mysql Server as well. Right now this is not configured yet. Im afraid that it will break the Remote Mysql Server, I think they have the same cpanel database like horde, account database and others. We would like to make the switch seemlessly but would like to make sure that all sites works well prior to the final switch.

Thanks.

I am also considering that on the new server we will just move back the Mysql server back to localhost? I dont think we can just import everything from the Remove Mysql to Local Mysql as it would mess up the settings the mysql root passwords, horde, eximstats, cphulkd and roundcube.

What is the best of doing this? so we can just import the cpanel accounts and its appropriate privileges? And also, since the database and the db users are imported manually, would they appear in the clients account cpanel?

Thanks.
