Hi Guys,

I recently migrated my wordpress site and another mysql database to a new hosting company. My WordPress site works perfectly.

For my mysql database, we use MS Access 2010 as a front end, and connect to the database back end through MyODBC Connector 3.51 under Windows 7. I cannot connect to it through my odbc connector 3.5, although I can easily connect on my previous host. The new hosting company says that everything is running fine and the problem appears to be on my end. However, I tried to telnet into localhost 3306 and it fails. If I do the same with my previous host, it will connect.

I have clean access to the database through Myphp through cpanel. I'm stumped and so is tech support on the new hosting side.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc.

Somewhat solved. After repeated request to my hosting company to check port 3306, I finally did it myself through a random port checking site and found it to be closed. Now they are saying they may not open it because of security reasons.

Hello :)

Ensure the IP address you are connecting from is added to the "Remote MySQL" option in cPanel as an access host.

Thank you.
