Hello,

I want to migrate from my old VPS to my new VPS.
My old VPS has CentOS 6 and cPanel&WHM, now I got new VPS server and installed CentOS7 and cPanel&WHM.
So logically my next step is to move all data from old to new server and shut down old server.
What would be best way to do that with least downtime and problems?
There are several accounts and few websites, don't think there's any emails.
Also is it possible to sync all settings from old to new server?

Thanks for help

New server: install OS cpanel
in the transfer tool you can transfer the exiting server configs for
  • Backups
  • Database
  • Easy Apache
  • Exim
  • User Interface Themes
See Transfer Tool - Version 78 Documentation - cPanel Documentation

after complete verify its the way you want it

Then set up A DNS cluster (update your DNS IP's at some point)
transfer the sites
Wait a day or so & remove the DNS cluster
0 downtime

Skip DNS stuff if your keeping the same IP's

This seems to be what I need.

I'm worried since the IP will be changed that dns will be problematic, so adding it to DNS cluster and waiting for a day or 2 to propagate and removing it after should cover that?

Also all user account data will be transfered, their databases and wordpress or what they have?

Hi,

thanks for all the help, this seems to be exactly what I needed.
After using transfer tool I enabled DNS clustering and seems like everything went well. Nameservers on new server were incorrect so I manually switched them to my nameservers.

Now I should wait for some time for everything to propagate and sync, 24-48h, right?

Since old server will eventually be shutdown and new server has different IP, all I need to do now is change IP Addresses for NS? (using GoDaddy for domain)

I'm in the same situation, where I just migrated the settings and the domains to the new VPS, but the new server only has 1 IP available and I wonder if I need to wait for more IPs to be allocated to the machine, or can I already switch the IPs of the old name servers at registrar to this 1 IP?

Right now even in the new cPanel VPS WHM, the A records IP's for my two custom name servers are assigned to the old machine's IPs of the source server.

You can assign the nameservers the same IP address, you'd just need to change the IP to the new one for both at the registrar.

Right now even in the new cPanel VPS WHM, the A records IP's for my two custom name servers are assigned to the old machine's IPs of the source server.
This is because WHM does a DNS lookup of the nameserver IP's and because they resolve to the old server it's seeing the old IP address.
