I'm running the latest 4.1.12 Jakarta Tomcat install. Its working fine, but its logging an insane amount of useless information in Apache's error_log. See below:

Any idea on how to turn off all this excess logging? Its no doubt hurting performance, and wasting disk space.

    Thanks in advance,

    Brian

In your web.xml file look for

    &param-name&logVerbosityLevel&/param-name&
    &param-value&WARNING&/param-value&

The value is probably not WRANING and is set to something higher. Change the value to a different value.

Valid values are FATAL, ERROR, WARNING, INFORMATION, and DEBUG.

If using Tomcat 4.0.3 it is here
    /usr/local/jakarta/jakarta-tomcat-4.0/build/conf/web.xml

Not sure if that is why your apache crashes, I don't know anything about your system. But, could be.
