    hello all,

    before all, I'm no expert yet (learning as fast as I can but well....)

    tried to install with the help of : http://www.cpanelfaq.com/006/19.html

    but the problem I have :

    In the Makefile, you should change this line:

    APXS=apxs

    what do I do here ? Clearly the install doesn't work but what am I missing ? Do i have to compile this apxs ? Is it already there on a redhat 9 server with cpanel up to date ?? How can I check it, if needed how to install (or a tuto for newby like me)

    thanks in advance for your help

    eric

    Go on, have a guess
    The following command:

    locate apxs

    Will give you, among other things:

    /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs

    ;)

    thanks

    apxs is indeed there

    /var/www/manual/programs/apxs.html
    /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
    /usr/local/apache/man/man8/apxs.8
    /usr/local/apache/htdocs/manual/programs/apxs.html
    /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/apache_1.3.29/htdocs/manual/programs/apxs.html
    /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/apache_1.3.29/src/support/apxs.8
    /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/apache_1.3.29/src/support/apxs.pl
    /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/apache_1.3.29/src/support/apxs

    now why does the Makefile not work ?????

    will have to dig further, if someone has a hint ;)

    thanks

    eric

    apxs won't be in your root PATH, so you will have to do as the MakeFile says and edit it and replace:

    APXS=apxs

    with:

    APXS=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs

    If then you then have problems, post the output into the thread.

    Chirpy

    I bow to you for the help

    it was that obvious and simple

    I just had to put the path to the modules and now it works perfect

    will send a little note to the faq to make a little change so newbies like me don't have to ask this question to get it working

    APXS=path to /apxs
    APACHECTL= path to /apachectl

    in my case

    APXS=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
    APACHECTL=/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl

    once again thanks and I hope this little thread will help many others like me

    now i can start testing the settings and options :D
