I was looking for a simple alternative to mod_userdir (a temporary URL is absolutely essential for our customers), and was intrigued to read this post:
    http://forums.cpanel.net/f185/tweak-mod_userdir-security-121605.html#post529981

However, I could not find an explanation about how to automate the process like Spiral hinted. Does anyone have a guide/manual/tutorial on this, or can explain the process in short?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello :)

The most reliable way to access a domain name over an IP address different than what the DNS points to is to modify the hosts file on your computer.

    Hosts file

Users can modify this file on their own computers and access domain names directly from their browser.

    Thank you.
