I work for a non-profit organization in Canada that provides a free webpage service for its member communities. This service has really grown over the last few years and now has a membership of over 25,000 users.
The problem is that the current server system that houses these accounts is seriously outdated and overstretched. The system relies mainly on a Postnuke user management system combined with a php webpage creation script that also allows users to manage their root folder directly.
We need a whole new management system. I’m currently looking into different remedies and Cpanel seems like a solid option here.
I have a few preliminary questions:
1.Can a single Cpanel installation be used to administer multiple servers (assuming that all the other servers have Cpanel installed as well)?
2.Would we have to buy a license for EACH server?
3.Does Cpanel provide free or reduced cost licences to non-profit organizations in Canada?
4. Would it be possible to remove certain functions from the Cpanel client interface (ie. prevent clients from using functions such as mail, webmail, parked domains, etc.)?
Any other comments/suggestions/cautions are welcome and appreciated, especially in the area of transferring over all these users into a Cpanel system.
