Here's the plan... currently have a RedHat 7.3 box, would like to move to Redhat Enterprise...

since trying to upgrade the 7.3 box to RHE seems like a disaster waiting to happen, I assume I'll set up both boxes with cpanel and then transfer the accounts over.

any idea how much downtime this will generate? or will it be seamless.

and if i'm getting rid of the old server, am I going to have trouble with transferring the nameservers? I'd like to make this as smooth as possible... anybody have experience they'd like to volunteer?

You could almost write a book. :)

I have done this a few times with virtually no downtime.

    Basically:

    Buy new server

set up new server hostname and other cpanel stuff

move one of your nameservers from the old server to the new server.

    Wait for it to propagate.

Start moving sites. Once a site is moved, immediately terminate it on the old server.

    Continue until all sites moved.

That is the basic gist of it.

I tend to have problems with addon domains not having the correct IP for the new box, is there an easy way around this?
