My domain is I created and add-on domain call and an fpt account to enable me upload my a new website to the folder call webman created in microman folder.

I use Micromedia dreamweaver for my site design. When I edit my site and provide the necessary info for the remote site and try to test, it gives me the message "An ftp error occured - cannot make connection to host. 530 login authentication failed".

I am unable to sort this problem out. Please, someone should help.

You are having issue when using dreamweaver only? Are you able to connect to the server using an ftp client?

In that case I would like to recommend you to contact your hosting provider because no one on this forum having access to your domain hosted server and for your issue server access need to check the logs for your FTP accounts...

While that may be one course of action, I strongly suspect that the user failed to use the correct login name when trying to connect via FTP.

On Cpanel servers, the main FTP login is just simply the login name you assign to the account along with the password that you selected but that is not the case when creating additional FTP accounts or using "Add-On" domain additional FTP logins.

To login to FTP for Add-On domains ...

For additional FTP logins such as with Subdomains, and Add-On domains, you MUST include the primary domain name for the main account as part of the FTP login name for the Add-On domain FTP login name when you try to login to FTP for the Add-On domain.

In example, if you had an account with the primary domain "" and were to create an "Add-On" domain with it's own FTP login named "fred" and the "Add-On" domain were called "" then the FTP login name would actually be "" and not just simply "fred".

NOTE: Notice that the login name uses the primary domain and NOT the add-on domain for the FTP login so in the example above, only "" would work -> "fred" and "" would not work for your FTP login!
