    My ISP just upgraded to cPanel 11 (I don't know what version they used to have - I presume 10, but I don't know for sure).

    In the most recent changes to email forwarding, the model has changed. cPanel is now evaluating forwards at the time they are created. This doesn't allow me to create multi-level forwards, which are very useful in managing a organization.

    For instance, I'd like to have a forward for our newletter editor: Editor@wos.org -> Diane@home.net. Because the newsletter is so important, messages to the Board should go to the editor. We also have a Publications committee, and the editor is obviously on that. So I'd like Board@wos.org to route (among other places) to Editor@wos.org, and PubComm@wos.org should also route (among other places) to Editor@wos.org.

    I used to be able to set this up quite literally as Board@wos.org -> Editor@wos.org; PubComm@wos.org -> Editor@wos.org; Editor@wos.org -> Diane@home.net

    When Diane resigns, and a new editor is chosen, I only have to change Editor@wos.org, not Board or PubComm. Furthermore, when I'm looking at where Board@wos.org is routed, it shows easy-to-understand targets like President@wos.org, Secretary@wos.org; Editor@wos.org.

    With the new set-up, the forwards are evaluated when created, so that I end up with Editor@wos.org -> Diane@home.net, Board@wos.org -> Diane@home.net, and PubComm@wos.org -> Diane@home.net. This list of personal email addresses is much harder to validate and much harder to manage.

    When someone tells me their email address has changed, I previously just had to find their role (i.e. Editor) and update their email, rather than searching all of the forwards for all of the places where their email address appears, and changing each one.

    I would hope you would change the Forwards model back to allow multilevel forwarding as before.

    == Michael

    I was disappointed to see the new system too. I have a domain that is FamilyLastName.com, and a user named robert. His email forwards offsite to a gmail account, but he uses the robert@familylastname.com as his primary contact email.

    I had it set up with robert@familylastname -> robert@gmail, but then I also had nicknames forwarding to the real name like bob, rob, bobby, robby (as he does occasionally get mistyped emails from people who misheard him or who know him by a different name)

    Now, if she moves from gmail to a different account (work, isp, school), I have to update a half dozen forwarders to point to the new address.

    I understand that it is there "for own own protection" to prevent against mail loops like user1->user2->user

    There should be a checkbox labeled "I swear, I'm not a moron" that would enable the old system.

    I would recommend submitting this as a feature request to our feature request system: http://bugzilla.cpanel.net

    When you're done submitting your request, post the link to it here so others can comment and vote for it.

    The loop protection will be a bit less strict in 14142+ as exim is capable of solving internal mail loops anyways.

    So in 14142+ will we be able to do what the original poster wanted to do? That is, to assign multiple levels of forwards: sales@->user1, finance@->user1, user1@->offiste

    You should for the most part. The loop protection is trimmed down a bit.

    Please let me know your experiences with the latest builds
