Looking at my process list, there are a lot of processes exactly the same, running at the same time.

    Par example:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    29767 (httpd) /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd /

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    29772 (httpd) /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd /

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    29781 (httpd) /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd /

Must they all be running, or can I cancel ones EXACTLY the same?

Apache keeps a number of spare servers alive to service incoming requests - this is perfectly normal.

Ok, and the same for things such as named I guess.

    Thanks.
