Hi,

I need some help with a Cpanel Webmail situation our client is having. This is my first post on the forum. :D Hope I'm clear in explaining:

Three users(and possibly more) at one of our clients can't login to their webmail or access email through outlook. When I go to https://IPofServer:2096 on my computer, which is located in a different location than the client, I can log in to webmail under all three accounts. When I remotely connect to the three client users' computers and do the exact same thing from their browser, I get a message at the Webmail screen saying that the credentials don't work. ( I don't have the exact wording at the moment, but it's a generic wrong user/pw message) When I searched the web, all I could find was stuff about opening ports and IP deny list, but all the necessary ports are open and the IP deny list is empty.(The users have no problem connecting to webmail, just their credentials don't work) I'm also bypassing any incorrect dns resolution issues by using the ip of the server instead of the name.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas about why this is happening. It really makes no sense to me.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I've tried both webmail.server.com and mail.server.com. We have them both redirect to https://IPofServer:2096, and the result is the same as above. We've been using the full email address: [email protected] And this works fine when I try it from our office, but doesn't work when I'm remoted into theirs and try it on their browser.

It's as if something about either the users' public IP or their browser is causing the issue.

Why? What are your settings here:
WHM » Server Configuration » Tweak Settings, Redirection tab
always redirect to ssl: on
non-ssl redirect destination: origin domain name (this section is grayed out)
SSL redirect destination: SSL certificate name (this section is grayed out)
logout redirect URL: no redirection

What I meant by redirection is that we have the dns configuration pointing from mail.clientdomain.com to https://mail.ourdomain.com:2096. (before i had said it points directly to an IP, sorry this was wrong)

Regardless, most of the employees at that client have no problem accessing their mail through webmail or outlook.

I figured it out finally! The users+office IP was flagged in the cphulk brute force protection: Home » Security Center » cPHulk Brute Force Protection. I cleared the list and whitelisted their public office IP.
