Hello,

I'm at a loss here, I'm unfamiliar with mx records and what is actually modified when you modify the mx records through the web host manager so please bear with me :)

I've modified an mx record from the Web Host Manager for the mx record to point to an IP address, everything looks correct, however, they are not receiving their email.

When I do a lookup on the mx record it shows the host as being the ip address with the domain name (xx.xx.xxx.x.domainname.com) which I can tell is incorrect, but I don't know how to fix this.

I'm probably not including somethere here that I should be so if anyone can help with mx records, just let me know what else I need to post here in order to get help.

Thanks for your help

MX records point to A records/hostnames, not IPs. You'll need to setup an A records for the particular IP and then use that as where mail should go to.

Hello JustinK,

I knew that...but the client was trying to convince me otherwise. No wonder I was so confused.

Thank you so much for your help :)
