    Hello all.

I have a weird problem. When I do an MX search on dnsstuff.com it tells me that I do not have an MX record set up. But I think I do. I have the DNS zone set up exactly the way I do for my other accounts and they return with an MX record. Is there something else I need to do? Right now the record points to the domain name and there is an entry in the dns zone that looks like:

    website.com. 14400 MX 0 website.com.

Should it be pointing to th IP address instead?

T.I.A. for any help as this seems to be causing mail delivery problems to people on AOL and Yahoo, etc.

    Go on, have a guess
That's a correct MX zone entry. You should definitely not change it to an IP address. Presumably website.com. has an A record pointing to an IP address?

The only other likely problems are:

    1. named needs to be restarted

    2. Are you sure that your server is authoratitive for website.com? That is, your name servers are listed in WHOIS for website.com?

    similar issue

I have an MX record in a new zone configured like the above poster's.
This server is authoritative and named has been restarted and I still get the same report from dnsstuff.com on the MX record report.
It even shows that its querying the correct name server but that server reports no MX record.
    Kind of odd huh?
Did you get your issue resolved? IF so how?
